Some 100 years following the Fall of the Five Great Nations, a number of formerly obscure villages have begun to stake their claim on the continent. While prospect of war serves as a stark reminder of civilizational collapse, an accumulation of border disputes and widespread conspiracy has given the new Kage no other choice but to proceed with brazen vigilance. As a result, edicts have put an end to unchecked travel throughout the corners of the known world, with nearly every nation requiring a travel permit in order to freely cross borders. Concerns are mounting over a number of disappearances in the badlands—giving rise to even more tension.
